We work in the dark to serve the light. We are assassins.
~ Callum Lynch.

Assassin’s Creed movie was directed by Justin Kurzel and it is based on the Assassin’s Creed game series created by Ubisoft. It is an action movie with touches of the science-fiction world where many people died, for this reason it is not suitable for children under 12 years old. Although it is based on a game that has its own stories, it does not exactly follows the same storyline of it —rather, we can say it uses the same reality and a similar background of the game main character. Aside from being a movie with many action scenes, it is also a film full of history from the Spain of the 15th century.

In this film we can find a criminal main character who has imprisoned and sentenced to execution for all his crimes. However, it would take an interesting turn and he will find himself being part of an experiment made by the Abstergo organization, where he is connected by them to an incredibly technological device that takes him to the past to revive memories of his ancestors. There, he finds out that he is part of a mysterious secret group called the Assassins. Due to the memories of his past lives he starts to learn new fight and survival skills in order to meet with the objective that Abstergo organization expected.

At the beginning, the plot is a little bit difficult to understand because there are a few details that can explain what is going to happen or why are they doing that kind of experiment. However, there are some great scenes in it, for example, it has many scenes with a lot of emotions as when the main character realized by himself that he belongs to the Assassins group along with his mother.

It's 2016. No one cares about freedom.
~  Ellen Kaye.

All the characters seemed to be empty as for personalities, like no-one stand up from the rest. Although we can find the girl who helps the main character with a personality a little softer or gentler than her father and other characters, it is also boring to watch her, she did not show credibility with her emotions or expressions. Therefore, watching this movie seems to be very boring due to the lack of diversity in their personalities.

In conclusion, this film is not included in our recommendation list. Even though it has a good videogame series, which has been quite famous among gamers, the movie did not captured our attention too much, but the film would have more sense if it is an introduction to a saga of movies rather than just one, because it seriously seems to be the introduction of the videogame series. And if you are into action, drama, and historical movies, then watch it.

  1. I loved the interpretation that they give to the Assasin's world. Sometimes the movie was really boring though. I was a fan of the Assasins's Creed games for a long time...and when i knew that a movie was in the making I was reaaaally excited, but it was a little of a let down at the end
